A Message from our CEO, Ken Cahoon

“This move is not just a change of address — it is a declaration of our commitment to every member who has placed their trust in Signal Financial.”

Dear Signal Financial Family,

This is an exciting moment for Signal Financial and for you. After years of serving this community from our current headquarters, we’re making a strategic move that will allow us to serve you even better.

This isn’t just about a new building, it’s about investing in our future together. Our new headquarters in Bethesda and our brand-new branch at Invicta Place in Silver Spring represent our commitment to modern technology, improved service, and expanded access for every member.

Your accounts are safe. Your service continues uninterrupted. What changes is our ability to deliver even more for you, better technology, faster service, and a banking experience designed for today and tomorrow.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’re building, and I’m grateful you’re part of this journey with us. The best is yet to come.

I look forward to welcoming you through those new doors.

Warm regards,

Ken Cahoon

What this move is — and what it is NOT

Framing this correctly matters. We are communicating a strategic evolution that positions us for long-term growth and better service delivery.

What This IS

  • A carefully planned, phased transition designed to minimize disruption
  • An investment in our people, our operations, and our future
  • A modernization of our infrastructure to support digital growth
  • A reinvestment in member-facing technologies and amenities
  • A strategic decision to upgrade our workspace and improve member service

What This Is NOT

  • A reaction to financial trouble or instability
  • A sign that Signal is leaving the community
  • A disruption to member accounts, service, or access
  • A reduction in staff or service levels
  • A sudden or unplanned change in operations

Where We Are in the Journey

We are currently in Stage 1: Vision Before Logistics (April – June). This is the declaration phase, where we are sharing the vision and direction for Signal’s future and beginning to prepare the foundation for what comes next.

Change doesn’t happen all at once. We are moving in thoughtful phases to ensure stability at every step. This approach allows us to plan carefully, strengthen our operations, and continue delivering a consistent member experience along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Signal Financial moving its headquarters?

Our headquarters move is a positive, forward-looking decision. After several years in the same building, the facility no longer meets modern workplace or technological needs. Rather than invest heavily in renovating an outdated space, we chose to move to a newer building that better supports our employees, operations, and long-term service to members. The sale of our current building funds this transition responsibly.

Is Signal Financial moving because of financial trouble?

Absolutely not. Signal Financial remains financially strong with stable capital reserves, consistent growth, and a healthy loan portfolio. This is an investment in our future, not a reaction to financial pressure. We chose to make this move from a position of strength.

Will this affect the safety of my accounts or my money?

No. All member deposits remain fully insured by the NCUA. Your money, your account numbers, your access, all of that stays exactly the same. This is a physical office move, not a change to our core banking systems, financial infrastructure, or regulatory standing.

Will branch locations or hours change?

The Kensington branch will remain open through year-end with the same hours of operation. In late 2026, we will open a new, modern branch at 1 Invicta Place in Silver Spring. All other Signal Financial branches remain open with no changes to hours, services, or staffing.

Is Signal Financial leaving the community?

Not at all. Our headquarters is moving to 6720 Rockledge Drive in Bethesda — we are staying local and committed to this region. Our new Kensington branch at 1 Invicta Place keeps us rooted in the Silver Spring/Kensington community. All other branch locations remain exactly where they are.

Will this change my fees, rates, or products?

No. This move does not affect loan rates, deposit rates, account fees, or any products or services we offer. The investments we are making are funded through the sale of our current building and strategic reserves , not through member fees or rate adjustments.

How does this move benefit me as a member?

Members benefit in several direct ways: better technology means improved uptime and features; the new branch at 1 Invicta Place provides enhanced accessibility and parking; expanded Virtual Branch services give you more ways to connect; and improved operations let us process requests faster.
