Equifax Security Breach

By now, you have probably heard the news that Equifax, Inc., one of the three largest credit reporting agencies, announced that a data breach occurred which possibly impacted approximately 143 million Americans.
Please be assured that this data breach has NOT compromised Signal Financial FCU’s security in any way.
On September 7th, Equifax Inc. announced that an unauthorized party gained access to names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and in some cases, driver’s license numbers. Some citizens of Canada and the United Kingdom may also have been affected.
Credit Union staff are monitoring the situation closely and working with Equifax to determine the impact to SFFCU members. Members have the option to verify whether they have been affected by this incident by visiting www.equifaxsecurity2017.com.
Equifax has set up a dedicated call center at 866-447-7559 to answer any questions. The call center is open every day (including weekends) from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. EDT. Equifax has stated that they will send direct mail notices to consumers whose credit card numbers or dispute documents with personal identifying information were impacted.
